In May 2025, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will begin a five-year mangrove plantation project in North Jakarta, Indonesia, which faces the Java Sea.
This project is a collaborative venture between MMC and World Vision Japan, an international NGO, aims to contribute to the creation of local communities that can support the healthy growth of children into the future, while addressing the common global goal of protecting the global environment. Water pollution has become a major issue due to the concentration of large and medium-sized industries in the area of tree plantations. Through the Mitsubishi Motors STEP Fund, which is a voluntary donation from employees of the Mitsubishi Motors Group, as well as matching gifts from MMC, we plan to plant approximately 32,000 seedlings over the next five years. We aim to achieve results such as protecting the global environment and biodiversity through CO2 reduction, water purification in coastal areas and ecosystem protection on land and sea, while strengthening regional disaster prevention by preventing waves and suppressing the heat island effect.
