Mitsubishi Motors Thailand awarded as one of Thailand's community forest supporters

Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (MMTh), a production and sales company in Thailand, and the Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Foundation (MMTF)*, a non-profit organization, received the 'Community Forest Support' award from Royal Forest Department, for MMTh's "60 Years 60 Rai" Reforestation Project, which contributed to promotion of community forest development in Thailand. The project is expected to help the Thai government meet its goal to expand forest land to 55 percent of the country by 2037 and CO2 neutral goal.

In August 2022, as part of the second phase of the Green Activity "Root for Sustainability" project, MMTh planted 8,000 seedlings on the 40 rai (approximately 6.4 hectares) land in Nakhon Ratchasima Prefecture. In four to five years, the seedlings will grow big enough to supply food and water to the local communities and enhance their quality of life and wildlife will benefit greatly from them. Long-term benefits of the project is expected to include reduced carbon emissions and sustainable human-forest coexistence. Furthermore, carbon credits that are generated by our environmental projects can also be traded to offset CO2 released into the atmosphere.

MMTh will continue to work on the "Root for Sustainability" project, which will help increase community forest areas, reduce CO2, and pave the way for Thailand's transition to a sustainable environment as well.

*NPO established by MMTh in Thailand in January 2021 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of starting operation there.
