Tokyo, March 14, 2017 – Mitsubishi Motors Co., Ltd., today announced senior management appointments and changes, effective April 1, 2017. The changes cover the positions of Corporate Vice Presidents (CVP), Vice Presidents (VP), and other important personnel.
The changes to the management intend to pursue the following:
1.
Enhance governance within the company through more controlled risk management
2.
Strengthen competitiveness of the company through acceleration of synergies with Nissan and exchange of talent
3.
Promote culture of diversity, regardless of nationality, gender, and age.
"Today's appointments will further strengthen the company's executive team to achieve our V-shaped recovery, accelerate synergies with Nissan, and build the foundation necessary for a more sustainable growth in the future." said Osamu Masuko, Mitsubishi Motors President and CEO.
The top line management is optimized for smoother operations and quicker decision making with the number of corporate officers reduced by 29%. The position of senior executive officers and executive officers will be streamlined under one title of corporate vice president.
In manufacturing and purchasing, where further synergies with Nissan can be realized in the short-term, a dedicated team will be in place to seek commonization to enhance cost competitiveness. In Engineering Development, a mirror organization to Nissan will be put in place to ensure efficient synergy realization.
To establish a robust governance, a dedicated executive in charge of Global Risk Control is appointed to manage compliance and operational risks.
Our Global Marketing and Sales divisions will be strengthened in order to grow both our revenues and our sales above the 1 million unit threshold.
As part of the Alliance, Mitsubishi Motors will exchange personnel in top line and middle management to share best practices, nurture talent, and accelerate the performance of each company.
Mitsubishi Motors also appointed the first female vice president, pursuing an organization that values diversity regardless of nationality, gender, and age.
