eK X and eK Wagon Kei Cars Win Car of the Year Japan 2019-2020 in Small Mobility Category

Tokyo, December 6, 2019 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS CORPORATION (MMC) today announced that eK X (pronounced eK cross) and eK Wagon Kei cars have been selected as the Car of the Year Japan 2019-2020 in Small Mobility category. This is the first time that MMC won in this category.
 
This is the first time in six years for MMC to win an award of the Car of the Year Japan following the plug-in hybrid EV, Outlander PHEV, which received the Innovation Award, Car of the Year Japan 2013-2014.

About the Car of the Year (COTY) Japan 2019-2020
The awards of the 40th Car of the Year Japan were given to models launched in the Japan market during the period from November 1, 2018 to October 31, 2019. The Ten Best cars were selected on November 7, and after the Ten Best Test Drive on November 26, COTY members voted for each award, which was announced on December 6. In addition to the Car of the Year, Import Car of the Year, Innovation Award (car with innovative technologies such as eco-friendliness and safety), Emotional Award (car with features such as excellent design and drive feel) and Small Mobility Award (Kei car including ultra-compact mobility in the future) were selected.
