Tokyo, August 26, 2016 - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announces that Chinese joint-venture partner GAC Mitsubishi Motors Co., Ltd. (GMMC), will start production of the Outlander SUV model from August 29.

 

After being established in September 2012, GMMC started production of the ASX*¹ and Pajero Sport^*2 models and has come to play a vital role as a production and sales hub for MMC in China. The start of production of the Outlander in the country will allow GMMC to strengthen its lineup and to expand sales in the SUV segment, one that is growing particularly rapidly in the Chinese market.

Addressing a ceremony held to mark the start of production, MMC Executive Vice President Mr. Kozo Shiraji stated, "The Outlander, production and sales of which start today, is an SUV which brings with it Mitsubishi Motors' tradition of advanced 4WD technology in a cosmopolitan design and with an advanced features. This is a model that has received high acclaim from its owners in many markets. I am confident that the addition of the Outlander to the ASX and Pajero Sport models will give GAC Mitsubishi Motors a stronger SUV lineup and will enable it to further entrench itself in the Chinese market.
