BEFORE YOU BEGIN

To use the exclusive MITSUBISHI Remote Control App you need to register your wireless device and vehicle.
Your vehicle and wireless device communicate directly. 
You do not have to access a public Wi-Fi spot or prepare any Wi-Fi routers at your home.

STEP1Install the app on a wireless LAN device.

Please review the registration information card.

Attached to the key fob.
If you have wireless LAN password reissued by an Authorized
Mitsubishi Motors Dealer , please refer to the same.

Please scan the QR Code® and install the app.

If you cannot scan the QR Code, please search "MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER PHEV" in the Google Play, or click the banners to the right to dowload the app.

[ Attention ]Please keep the registration information card in a secure location.

STEP2Setup your vehicle and wireless device so they can be registered.

(Perform this operation while the driver-side door is closed.)

Turn the power switch to ACC, then within 10 seconds, press LOCK and UNLOCK on the key fob alternately 10 times in total.

Registration State Status

A meter buzzer sounds according to the number of the registered wireless device.
→Registration State Status ends 5 minutes after the buzzer sounds,
(Up to 2 devices can be registered.)

Start of Wireless Communication

When you search for the network through your wireless device, SSID "REMOTExxxxxx" is displayed.

It may take several minutes before SSID is displayed.

STEP3Register the wireless device with your vehicle.

Select SSID, and input your password, then registration starts automatically.

Registration Complete

A registration complete message is displayed on the wireless device. Turn off the power switch of the vehicle to complete the registration.

To register a second device, exit the app or disconnect the Wi-Fi Connection, then conduct the registration process for the next wireless device.

[ Attention ]

With iOS 10 or later devices or or some Android devices, the Wi-Fi setting screen of OS "Performance Recommendation", "no internet access" or etc. are indicated but, it is not affected in wireless LAN communication of vehicle.

REGISTRATION INITIALIZATION

You can initialize and delete the registration information in your vehicle for the MITSUBISHI Remote Control. (Reset to the factory setting.)

If you delete the vehicle registration of wireless LAN device, you must setting initialize below.

  • The vehicle SSID, Wireless LAN password. (The registration information card will be setting.)
  • The schedules of Charge Timer Settings and Climate Timer Settings.
  • Wireless LAN communication will be stopped of vehicle. (Your wireless device will not find the vehicle SSID when searching for it.)

If you need to only delete a specific registration of wireless device, it is necessary to use the "Cancel VIN Registration" in "Settings" of the MITSUBISHI Remote Control App.

STEP1Turn on Hazard lamp.

Turn on Hazard lamp switch.

STEP2Setup your vehicle to delete the registration information.

(Perform this operation while the driver-side door is closed.)

Turn the power switch to ACC, then within 10 seconds, press LOCK and UNLOCK on the key fob alternately 10 times in total.

Registration deletion Mode

Buzzer sounds according to the number of the registered wireless LAN devices.
"Registration Deletion Mode" ends 5 minutes after the buzzer sounds.

STEP3Delete the registration information.

Enter "Registration Deletion Mode," then within 5 minutes, press the LOCK and UNLOCK on the key fob alternately 20 times in total.

Buzzer sounds if registration information is deleted completely. (1beep)
"Registration Deletion Mode" ends by turning off the Hazard lamp and pressing the power switch to OFF.
If you want to continue to use the MITSUBISHI Remote Control App after the registration information is deleted from the vehicle, it is necessary to use the "Cancel VIN Registration" in "Settings" of the MITSUBISHI Remote Control App, and you need to register your wireless device to your vehicle again.

Uninstall and then reinstall the app.

 

STEP3Change the wireless LAN communication setting of Android device

On certain Android devices, wireless LAN communication with vehicle might be disconnected automatically, depending upon the model and OS version. Hence change the setting as shown below.

Depending on the model, operating method and display items may be different. For more information, please check the user manual of wireless LAN device or contact the device manufacturer.

 

Delete vehicle SSID

"Settings" - "Wi-Fi" - "Manage Saved networks"
- Tap the vehicle SSID if present - "Forget network"
(If there are no "Saved networks")
"Settings" - "Wi-Fi" - Tap the vehicle SSID if present - "Forget network"

Advanced settings

Set the following, if present under "Settings" - "Wi-Fi" - "Advanced or preferences".
  "ADAPTIVE WI-FI" > OFF
  "Switch to mobile data" > OFF
  "Smart network switch" > OFF
  "Auto network switch" > OFF
  "Wi-Fi Auto ON/OFF" > OFF
  "Intelligent Wi-Fi" > OFF
  "Wi-Fi +" > OFF
  "Wi-Fi optimization" > OFF
  "Turn on Wi-Fi automatically" > OFF
  "Avoid poor connections" > OFF
  "Wi-Fi frequency band" > Automatic or 2.4GHz only

 "Settings" - "Apps and Notifications" - "See all apps" - "Remote Ctrl 2"

Please follow these steps and register again.

Change mobile communication settings

On certain Android devices, you may not be able to communicate with vehicle even after STEP3. In such a case, please follow the below steps to set Mobile communication to "OFF", set "Wi-Fi only" to "ON" and then try to register again.

If you are able to register using these steps, please temporarily turn OFF mobile communication through these steps, to use Mitsubishi Remote Control in future. (Please note that as this depends up on the Android OS specification, countermeasures cannot be implemented on the app)

 
 

If issue does not resolve

 

Please re-confirm STEP1 to 4. If you are still not able to register, please consult the nearest Authorized Mitsubishi Distributor.

 

STEP5Steps to be taken if you are unable to communicate with other vehicles after successful registration

Change additional wireless LAN settings

On certain Android devices, the issue may be resolved on changing additional wireless LAN communication settings.

 
Set the following, if present under "Settings" - "Wi-Fi" - Long press vehicle SSID - "Change Network Settings" - "Advanced Settings".
  "Using this AP without internet connection" > ON

Change wireless LAN settings again

The issue may be resolved on changing the mobile communication settings mentioned in STEP3 and STEP4, again.

Confirm wireless LAN communication stopped state

When the vehicle power switch is OFF, if vehicle SSID is not displayed on clicking "Settings" - "Wi-Fi", the vehicle may have stopped wireless LAN communication temporarily and activated the function to avoid dying of auxiliary battery. You can reopen wireless LAN communication by following the below steps.

 
  • 1. If the vehicle is equipped with MMCS or smartphone linked display audio (SDA), please check whether the MMCS/SDA date/time is correct. If not, place the vehicle at an unobstructed outdoor location, and update the GPS time information.
  • 2. Please check whether the wireless LAN device date/time is correct. If not, enable Auto adjust date/ time function under OS settings.
  • 3. Turn ON the vehicle power switch and wait for 10 seconds or more.
  • 4. Turn the power switch to ACC, then within 10 seconds, press the keyless operation keys "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" alternately 10 times in total.
  • 5. Once the meter buzzer sounds according to the number of registered devices, Wireless LAN communication reopens temporarily. Start up the app in this state and communicate with vehicle once.
  • 6. Turn OFF the power switch. Procedure is completed, unless the Wireless LAN communication stops.
  • 7. If Wireless LAN communication stops in No.6, start up Plug-in Hybrid EV system, keep in READY mode (Ready indicator is on) for 10 minutes or more, and then turn OFF the power switch.
    Complete by reopening Wireless LAN communication.

If issue does not resolve

If wireless LAN communication does not reopen even after confirming the above, perform STEP1 to 4 and register again. If this does not resolve the issue, please consult the nearest Authorized Mitsubishi Distributor.
