Mitsubishi Motors Announces Production, Sales and Export Figures for October 2011
Tokyo, November 28, 2011 - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation today announced global production, as well as domestic sales and export figures for October 2011.
 
  • Production: global and Japan
    Total global production for October came in at 85,631 units, 19.9 percent down over October 2010 and the third consecutive year-on-year monthly decrease since July 2011. Production volume in Japan at 50,757 units was 17.9 percent down, the third consecutive year-on-year monthly decrease since July 2011. Passenger car output at 43,305 units was 21.6 percent down on the same period last year. Commercial vehicle output at 7,452 units was 13.5 percent up year-on-year.
 
  • Sales in Japan
    Vehicle sales in Japan in October totaled 10,134 units, 14.7 percent up on the same month last year and registered the first year-on-year monthly rise in fourteen months since August 2010. Sales of passenger cars at 7,676 units were 27.1 percent up and sales of commercial vehicles at 2,458 units were 12.1 percent down year-on-year. Registered vehicle sales volume at 4,062 units was 62.5 percent up while minicar sales volume at 6,072 units was 4.2 percent down over September 2010.
 
  • Production overseas
    Overseas production volume in October totaled 34,874 units, 22.7 percent down over the same month last year and registered the first year-on-year monthly decrease in ten months since December 2010. By region, output in Asia at 29,034 units was 24.2 percent, mainly due to a 35.6 percent fall at MMTh in Thailand as a result of the serious flooding that country has suffered recently. Output in China at 8,473 units was 34.2 percent down year-on-year. In North America, output at 1,194 units was 58.3 percent down over October last year as production of the Eclipse and Endeavor models came to an end. In Europe, output at 1,607 units was 31.1 percent up year-on-year. In South America output at 2,970 units was 30.3 percent up on October 2010.
 
  • Export shipments from Japan
    Total exports from Japan of 33,703 units were 14.6 percent down on October 2010, the second consecutive year-on-year monthly decrease since August 2011. Exports to Asia at 3,701 units were 23.5 percent down year-on-year. Exports to North America at 3,039 units were 61.3 percent down over the same period last year. Exports to Europe at 12,462 units were 9.4 percent down on October 2010.
