The third and final leg of the rally was the shortest, with 95 kilometres of stages, but exceptionally demanding nonetheless. The combination of a low, early-morning sun on a still morning and dust made the first two stages particularly difficult, especially as they were new to the rally this year and therefore unfamiliar to the top competitors. Enthusiastic crowds basked in spring-like warmth as the drivers pressed their cars to the limit on the smooth, flowing roads that snake between farms and forests.
