In 1988 Tommi won the Finnish Rally Championship in Group-N. In 1990 he earned a chance to drive a Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 in 5 World Rally Championship events. He finished twice in the top 10 places overall and won the Group-N three times. In 1994 Tommi Scored his first WRC overall win 1000 Lakes Rally. He made his debut for the Mitsubishi Works Team at the 1994 Sanremo Rally. On the Swedish Rally of this year, he displayed his driving skills by taking the Lancer Evolution… , to a spectacular second place finish.

The name of Shinozuka is greatly repected in Japanese motor sport circles. Having begun his career in 1968, he became the first Japanese driver to finish the Kenyan Safari Rallyin 1976. And 15 years later, he became the first Japanese to win the round of the World Rally Championship, the Ivory Coast-Bandama Rally in 1991. The following year, he won the event for the second year running.
After a long association with the Mitsubishi Team in marathon rallies, Kenjiro Shinozuka has come to be considered a very talented and experienced driver.and an exellent tactician.
