Press conference at the Geneva Motorshow on February 27th

Mr. Takashi Sonobe, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors, hosted the assembled media at the Geneva Motor Show on 27 February, outlining the manufacturer’s plans for the future. He was joined by Mr. Rolf Eckrodt, Chief Operation Officer, who explained how these plans would be implemented within Mitsubishi.

The Mitsubishi Motorsports teams have started the year 2001 in spectacular fashion and, to mark victories in Africa and Europe, the audience was shown a video depicting Jutta Kleinschmidt’s historic win on the Paris Dakar Rally in her Mitsubishi Pajero, which concluded on the same day that Tommi Makinen powered his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution to a hat-trick of victories on the famous Monte Carlo Rally

Jutta Kleinschmidt, Tommi Makinen and his team mate Freddy Loix were then welcomed on the stage and talked the audience through their historic achievements in January and their plans and aspirations for the season ahead. Freddy Loix, in particular, talked about the all-new Lancer Evolution World Rally Car which was on display to the world for the very first time, with a road-going Evolution VII placed alongside its rallying brother.

The Press Conference was completed by a photo-call with Marlboro Mitsubishi Ralliart drivers Makinen and Loix and the new Lancer Evolution World Rally Car, whilst Jutta Kleinschmidt posed with her Paris Dakar winning Mitsubishi Pajero which took pride of place in the centre of the stand.

After these duties were completed, Mitsubishi hosted a buffet for the international media and its affiliates from all over the world.
