The new Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero was unveiled today, 29 February 2000, at the Geneva Motor Show by Mr. Kawasoe, President of Mitsubishi motors corporation in front of the representatives of the worldwide press.

After all journalists, photographers and cameraman have discovered the new Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero for this European Premiere, the Mitsubishi showroom was honored by the presence of four times FIA World Rally Champion Tommi Makinen who won the 2000 Rally Monte-Carlo and finished an excellent second in this year's Swedish Rally. The Finn, who has never been beaten in the World Championship at the wheel of his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution since 1996, commented his unprecedented record and his excellent start to the 2000 season. After the first three rounds of the series, which include 14 events, he his leading with four points advantages over his closest rival. Makinen paid a visit to the various models that are displayed in Geneva, including a group A Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and a Tommi Makinen limited edition road car.

Mr. Ullrich Brehmer, (Director of Team Mitsubishi Ralliart for Cross Country Rally), was also present to stress the great performance achieved by the Mitsubishi Pajeros/Monteros in the world famous classic 2000 Paris-Dakar-Cairo where Jean-Pierre Fontenay finished 3rd, while Jutta Kleinschmidt and Hiroshi Masuoka respectively reached Cairo in 5th and 6th position.
