Aspire

Two years after the 1996 release of the eighth-generation Galant, the 4-door Aspire sister model took its place in August 1998 as the successor to the Eterna. The model took its name from the English word "aspire." It shared exterior and interior designs with the Galant, the two models differentiated only by the headlamp and tail lamp cluster design and the Aspire was available only with automatic transmission. It was powered by the same 1.8L GDI engine as the Galant. The lineup included a low-emission model which, in addition to the low CO2 emissions inherent to the GDI engine, also emitted lower levels of CO, HC and NOx.
