1960s: Compact four-wheeled vehicles and mini cars are launched
Production of the compact four-wheeled vehicle "Mitsubishi 500" and the mini car "Minica" begins. The 1960s was a time when Mitsubishi began to develop its vision for the future, for example by launching its Colt series, the first Mitsubishi vehicles to compete in international rallies.

1970s: Arrival of the "Lancer" which also achieved success in the world of motor sports
The first generation "Lancer," the high grade sedan "Galant Σ" and Mitsubishi's first FF vehicle, "Mirage" etc. are launched. Our products in the 1970s began to demonstrate our superior technological capacity to the world. For example, the Lancer was victorious in the Safari Rally.

1980s: The "Pajero" and "Delica Wagon" are announced, leading the RV boom
The "Pajero," a fully-fledged off-road 4WD with the flavor of a passenger car, is launched. In the1980s Mitsubishi Motors announced advanced products for the steadily expanding market, including the "Lancer" and "Delica" wagons, etc.

1990s: Building a car lineup rich in variety
The mini car "Toppo," high quality sedan "Diamante," sports car "GTO," passenger car-type RV "RVR," etc. are launched. In the 1990s, Mitsubishi Motors offered a large number of individualistic products to meet diversifying market needs.

2000s: Mitsubishi Motors continuously evolves to meet future challenges
The "i" is launched and becomes the first mini car to be awarded the Good Design Grand Prize. Using the "i" as the base, Mitsubishi Motors launches onto the market the new-generation electric vehicle "i-MiEV," the fruit of more than 40 years of electric vehicle development. Mitsubishi Motors is continuing to evolve in the 2000s as a pioneer that will open the door to the next 100 years of our automobile society.
