Our sincere apologies and pledge

I would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincerest apologies to all of you who were inconvenienced and concerned during our recent recall campaigns for heavy-duty trucks and buses.

Our apologies go especially to the victim of the wheel detachment accident and her bereaved family to whom we offer our deepest sympathy and condolences. The accident is still under investigation, and we will continue to cooperate fully with the authorities.

We are taking this matter seriously, and so we have launched a comprehensive review of our company to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future. As part of this review, we will start implementing company-wide reform in three areas.

1. Establishment of Quality Advisory Committee
This committee, comprised of four outside experts on technology, corporate governance, etc., and one internal representative, will analyze quality management processes and other issues through monthly meetings and make recommendations directly to the President.
(from the middle of May)
2. Thorough Reform of Quality Management & Development Organization
With safety and quality as the top priority issues, a thorough reformation of quality control, development and engineering organizations, including the set-up of testing office as an independent function from design, will be made. (from April 21)
3. Establishment of Corporate Culture Reformation Committee
This committee, comprised of 12 executives, will work out a series of programs and make recommendations directly to the President on the promotion of open-minded corporate culture. (established on April 20)

Therefs no question that delivering the highest possible level of quality and safety are both top priority. So, I will make sure that every one of my colleagues at Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus will make the utmost effort to implement these reforms. Also, while taking into account the findings of investigation, we will take punitive measures against those who are directly responsible.

I will assure you that we will implement these reform initiatives with all our efforts, while fully drawing upon the lessons that can be learnt. We will deliver on our promises, because we know thatfs the only way to restore confidence.
