Telematics Test Vehicle "iT-Dion"

Mitsubishi Motors envisions the future of telematics service and conducts advanced research with test vehicles
In May 2003, our Telematics Test Vehicle "iT-Dion" was unveiled at the "People and Car Technology Exhibition" held in Yokohama and the following services were introduced.
1. Vehicle Hotspots
Using DSRC and wireless LAN, a variety of content is communicated over the internet and the server equipped on the vehicle downloads the content at high speed. In the vehicle, a handheld device connects to a wireless LAN to access information.
2. Vehicle Remote Monitor & Operation
Using the web access functionality of a portable phone, the vehicle's on-board server can be accessed and the vehicle's door locks and security system status can be verified and operated.
3. Vehicle Homepage
Average vehicle speed, wiper operation status, and traffic information can be uploaded to the information center and then sent to the internet. Sharing information generates new ideas for enhanced traffic jam information and new services.
The Eclipse EV (prototype) which uses the latest Telematics technology participated in "Shikoku EV Week 2003" and has its own real-time "Vehicle Homepage" open to the public (Japanese only) that shows vehicle conditions like current location, speed, and remaining battery power. A driver-side mounted camera also shows the forward view.
